Our client is $1.5+ Billion Revenue provider of industrial specialty services (Maintenance, Turnarounds, and Capital Project Construction). This position will report to the Senior Director of Procurement and assist with managing the $300+ Million Annual Spend.

The Category Manager develops and deploys the procurement strategy, contracts, and material staging strategies for leveraging spend within the assigned categories. The Category Manager is also responsible to manage the contracts within assigned categories including issue management, Service Levels, KPIs, etc. The Category Manager will also work with internal users to assure compliance and satisfaction.

The Category Manager is expected to develop or modify the category strategy based on rigorous analysis built from facts & forecasts, to serve as the primary commercial liaison with the supplier, to be the lead negotiator, and to develop and maintain effective relationships to ensure spend/supply is effectively managed & leveraged. The Category Manager should possess highly-advanced skills in the areas of: detailed cost analysis, strategic formulation, contract management, communication across all levels, and relentless execution.

  • Experience overseeing annual spend of $50+ Million (minimum)
  • 5+ years of material / equipment / services procurement experience specific to Heavy Industrial, Oil, Gas, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical industries. *** HIGH PREFERENCE towards individuals coming from a Construction / EPC environment.
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Experience in commercially managing material / equipment / service contracts for combined $20 - $50MM spend.
  • Proven and documented success in cost savings for current employer
  • Experience with Master Data development and management - Strong application skills with spreadsheets, databases, graphics, statistical analysis and modeling.
  • ISM certification desired but not required.
  • Experience identifying, qualifying, and negotiating to set up a preferred supply base through the use of performance management, benchmarking, value modeling, financial, commercial, and technical analysis.
  • Experience supporting supplier performance and relationship; including supplier management scorecards and supplier reviews to drive improvement in supplier performance.
  • Ability to negotiate and implement complex contractual agreements.

TRAVEL: Occasional, but infrequent


COMPENSATION: $130-160k base salary (depending on candidate), strong benefit package, bonus program, PTO & Sick Leave, 401k Matching, etc.
