About the Position:

Hiring for an Area Manager, responsible for the preparation and implementation of a strategic plan for the area and business unit that promotes growth and is consistent with corporate strategic plans and goals. Also to be a visible model and champion for employees and business activities consistent with corporate Core Values and Code of Conduct; enhancing the reputation for truthfulness and safety.

Essential duties include but are not limited to: prepare and communicate accurate and timely financial forecasts, budgets, and projections. Participate in bid reviews for all large dollar and/or complicated bids to ensure estimate accuracy, risk and opportunity assessment, and strength and weakness analysis. Participate in the management of the area construction materials business, including but not limited to, ensuring that best industry practices are adopted, plant capital projects are consistent with financial expectations and commodity purchases. Develop growth initiatives in the area, including pro-forma and market analysis for acquisitions. Develop strategic and professional relationships; work to build alliances with politicians, customers, vendors and subcontractors. Act as a consultant with labor relations, to the collective bargain process . Develop and mentor, ensuring that employees are properly trained in the skills necessary for success, given opportunity for stretch assignments and given full access (including transfer) for leadership development.

Requirements:

BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 10 years work experience in heavy civil, highway or plants construction and management.

Knowledge of construction operations (technology, equipment, methods), company policies, procedures and standards.

Knowledge of craft employee relations, Union and/or Open Shop, including the collective bargaining process as well as all employee related laws and regulations.

Experience in estimating of earthwork, concrete, utility, paving, structures and underground construction.

Understanding of plant operations, including aggregate plants and hot plants.
